Bamiyan Afghan Restaurant
Reviews
Delicious appetizers, good food, wonderful atmosphere. We came on a Saturday night and our food did not take long to arrive.
I just moved here 3 weeks ago and have been sampling the local fare. The food here was absolutely out of this world delicious. The beef tenderloin was amazing, succulent, and spiced to perfection. The pumpkin puree had a little bit of spice that made it heaven. The squash vegetable was drizzled in this delicious cream sauce. The spinach rich and brown rice were both also perfect. Everything about the food was heaven. The only issue I have with the restaurant is that it's very expensive, and that it's only open for dinner (no lunch prices.) I don't know how they stay in business as we were the only patrons in the restaurant the entire 2 hours we were there.
Intimate setting. Wonderful food. Wine is well valued but don't expect any pairing suggestions. Warm service. Professional and warm are not the same, but I'm not looking for professional, when I eat in a place that feels like a home. expect to pay $40/person with wine otherwise $25. TRY the Afghan tea if you like sweet. Baklava was crap, She said her brother makes it fresh. I believe he does, but not very well.
Ok the food is tasty. Service is average, decor is very dated. I brought my own wine, ordered one appetizer, two entrees, and two turkish cofees. The bill with tip came to eighty dollars. I mean.. this is typical middle eastern fare - no exspensive ingridients unless you order lamb (which I did not) why are they charging 18 dollars per entree, when its rice with grilled chicken and pumkin puree.?? This might explain why there was only one other patron in the restaurant at 7 on a Saturday night. If this place changed their price point and made this family style middle eastern food-they would do great. No one is going to pay eighty dollars for two,to eat at a run down strip mall in citrus heights. At least not twice.
