HUB Restaurant & Ice Creamery

Stopped in to HUB on a Wednesday night at about 5pm. Traffic of course was stupid. Available seating was ample. I ordered their lobster roll. It came without the lemon aioli and caper sauce so anything about it that might have been special was negated. Copious veggies, little meat. The bits of shell I found throughout were testament to the reality of the lobster, perhaps? My husband ordered a pastrami sandwich, but received a corned beef one instead. Not impressed with one of their signature cocktails - it came out over ice, a lot of ice; I think that left room for 3 sips for my $9.00. We finished with 4 oz. of ice cream each. My S'mores flavor was lacking in chocolate. Let's hear it for creamy graham cracker ice cream! We will not be returning. The atmosphere and decor was novel but that cant be the only justification for the upper end pricing. I would have enjoyed food truck fare more. The deep fried cheese curd appetizer was the only highlight.
Disappointed. Just found out yesterday that the HUB is no longer making Bourbon Almond Brittle ice cream. That was the best one of the bunch. I really enjoy the food, but this is very disappointing. Not sure I will be back.
My five year old son was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October and is now receiving chemotherapy at the Diamond Children's Hospital at University Medical Center. Earlier today a group of volunteers from The Hub catered several flavors of ice cream including toppings, for all cancer patients as well as their siblings and parents. The volunteers were genuinely cordial and provided excessively generous portions. They do this on the first Sunday of each month. Because the children in this particular unit have compromised immune systems, stringent health precautions are in place which limit their ability to leave their rooms, Truthfully most of them are too sick to get out of bed such as my son who is receiving parenteral nutrition. No matter the atmosphere, prices or food quality, restaurants will always face sharp criticism whether justified or not. Even some of our own favorite restaurants have had "off days". However when a restaurant reaches out to local, terminally ill children simply to make one moment of their hospital stay a little brighter, they've earned my business well before I've even walked through the door. By the way the ice cream was fantastic. Thank you HUB Restaurant & Ice Creamery for putting a smile on our child's face today!
I loved this place! It was one of the best places that I've ever been to! I highly recommend the bacon cheeseburger. Even though i wasn't able to try the ice cream I bet it would have been the best ice-cream in the world.
The staff were so nice and friendly, we wanted to sit outside but they can't serve beer in the front yet. The server suggested we sit in the window, which is like outside after all!! Had a fantastic goat cheese salad - big chunks of goat cheese and red beets - YUM. And the ice cream is fantastic!
