The worst service from the moment we walked in. The hostess let some rude woman cut in front of us cuz she had a reservation, then when she came back answered the phone before helping us. After we sat down for a very nice view of the water smashed between two other couples. The waitress took forever to get our drink orders, appetizer, salads, and by the time she got around to our over priced food it was COLD. After she found we weren't staying at the resort she couldn't care less about us. Ill bet all that junk on the walls woulda tasted better.
The food has improved. but , the price is lots higher. The decor is the same a it has been for some time. BUT, the big improvement is the service. For the first time in at least 15 years our server acted like he cared and he tried very hard. Gaston's is not first class but has turned around and is headed in the right direction. Still not up to Mr. Gaston's standards. We have been coming here for 30 + years.
Well the other reviewer was right.The view is great of the river.I'm not so sure about looking at all of the old rusty bicycles hanging from the ceiling while you eat though.lol Matter of taste lol.The food is what I call airplane food .Most of the food comes in frozen all ready portioned out.They may make the sandwiches and put together the salads.There is not much ho.made cooking going on there.The sunday brunch is ok.But its more breakfast food than lunch items.The gift shop is nice and overpriced for the tourists.The atmosphere is nice.
Eaten there many times and always have a nice meal and all the antiques makes for additional interest. Lovely view of the river and several walking trails and very nice gift shop.
