Tokyo Japanese Steak House

Well, our search for a decent Japanese Steak House in Huntsville continues. Tokyo was disappointing. We were seated immediately and our server was very nice. However, once she brought our initial drinks, soup, and salad. We had to send someone to get her for refills. Our chef was completely boring and had no personality... not what we expected bringing 7 people there for a Birthday party. In other cities, we have had the option of ginger or mayonnaise based dressing. I have learned now in Alabama there is nothing but ginger IN the mayonnaise. And I have also learned that they drown the food in "teriyaki" sauce so I knew to ask for no sauce. They were in such a hurry to flip tables that our food was undercooked. The meat was cooked but, the rice was not "fried" rice. It was basically reheated on the grill (completely soft). I have also learned that in Alabama they give you very little vegetables so I knew to ask for extra vegetables. However, they are completely undercooked. The onions were still crunchy. and zucchini, broccoli, etc..were cooked. However, they weren't "GRILLED" long enough to make them crispy like we are used to. Or maybe it's the fact that they too were doused in some sauce to make them soggy. Overall a disappointment.

Went Friday February 6, around 8:45. The white man chef that cooked was very sloppy- believe he said his name was Jeff. For future references- no matter how late, I would rather not have food flinging in different directions. We have had Justin as a chef several times, and he absolutely had the table beside us laughing and having a great time. (He is always amazing!!) I will get up and leave if I ever have this cook again. By far the worst time I have ever had. I know we were one of the latest customers, but he still should have treated us like Justin was doing his table. We will be back, but will not go with the food flying chef- Jeff. (Hope it was just a bad night for him... because if that is how he always is, that isn't good.)

Food was decent. However, it took forever to get served and the floors needed cleaning bad.....sticky!

while the show and service quality vary at shogun, every time my boyfriend and I go. Tokyo has always delivered while doing a bit of a different show from chef to chef. service is always great and it's not as crowded as shogun. the food is also quite a bit better.
