Green Top Cafe

Green Top on old 78 hwy has been around forever . Started off as a duck your head while you're eatin' to a family eatery with arguably some of the best BBQ in the area. Food was good but restaurant was so full of cigarette smoke I had to stop eating in, If one was lucky enough to get a warm whole shoulder or butt for family it was just heaven. They had great burgers and big old greasy hand cut fries. Slaw and beans were good. Men's rest room didn't have a workable lock on it so you just took your chances. Interstate 22 then opened up, Jim'n'Nicks and Blue Moon came to Jasper and I'm sure business dropped off a lot. They first moved into Jasper at a ricky-tick little drive thru that Slick Lizard (just awful BBQ) had opened. The parking lot and drive through in that strip mall looked like an earthquake had hit. FINALLY they have moved into the old Reese's on 5/195. The place is clean, there is no smoking and the locks on the rest room doors actually work! I guess I can put up with that because the food is just as good. Gonna get some ribs today...
The staff was so friendly and helpful. The food was fresh and tasty. We were looking for something quick and quality that exactly what we found. Such a hidden gem. It was so refreshing to have something other than fastfood on the road.
Good food and service, don't like that the restaurnt allows smoking unless that has changed recently.
Delicious BBQ!
