Finally tried this place out a couple of months ago after driving past it for years and boy was I glad I did! We've been back every couple of weeks since! The food has a homemade feel to it rather than some of the mass produced tasting smorgasbord restaurants about town. The wait staff are lovely and give a lot of attention to their guests even when busy. My personal favourite is the red beef curry, really tasty without being too spicy and the selection of different foods including an all vegetable dish is great. Dessert again feels homemade and a real fresh fruit salad is a bonus. All in all we love it. $20 a head for adults and the kids are a dollar per year of their age.
After trying the Boat Club and lucking out with a members draw night, we called up Lava East and they really looked after us with a large table for 12 people (without a booking). We had a mixture of young and old, and some very young kids. The buffet style offering was very comprehensive and was very popular with other diners. You got to choose from all you can eat Asian stir fry and curry options. The kids (and some of the adults as well) enjoyed the Chicken Nuggets and other fried offerings. My 3 yo son really enjoyed the Malaysian Pork Curry on the night. It was mild, while being really flavoursome. I really enjoyed the Chicken Curry, which was also very flavoursome but not overly spicy. And then there was dessert! Yep, you get dessert included in the buffet. Creme Caramel, Jelly, Kiwi Ice-cream you can attack, Bread and Butter pudding. My wife thought the buffet was a little expensive for the price (I think it is around $15-20 per person, although this figure is based on the total value of the group divided by 12). I didn't think it was overpriced, however.
Excellent food and service.Highly recommend.
fabulous setting, good food, helpfull staff will be back
Restaurants closed which is a pity, bars for the local rednecks& good old boys but no hassles
