Ferry Inn
Reviews

The Ferry Inn, under Gareth Crichton, has recovered its former glory - excellent pint of Tennents - full of life and vigour - obviously a well cared for cellar and a cellar man who not only knows his job but takes a pride in it - undoubtedly the best pint in Stromness. (I actually had not only a flat pint of Lager but a warm one recently in one of the two other bars in Stromness and the barmaid shrugged it off with, "that's the way it's coming out today") Three of us dined in, "the Ferry" last night and we all had steaks, 2 sirloins and one (for an ex local chef and restauranteur) rump which the chef added sliced garlic to on request. Best steak I have tasted for a long time (and I am used to fine London dining). Hand made chips, a delightful pepper sauce and a pepper medley - excellent without a doubt. Gareth has also selected his bar and serving team carefully - they are polite and responsive. This is undoubtedly the best beer and food in stromness - You should try the others but if you enjoy quality food and drink served by excellent staff you will not achieve better.

Friendly, efficient staff and good cooking - the smoked mackerel paté was great - in a busy wee pub by the harbour.

Toured Orkney stopping here for lunch. Had a very hearty seafood pot pie. Nice!
