You may be a little bemused by the fact that I have given my stay at herding hill farm 5 stars when you read my review. This stay was booked through Groupon for a stay during the summer of 2012. When I called to upgrade from the basic wigwam to one with a sink, toilet and hot tub I was told that I would have to pay the difference which I agreed to do. When we arrived at the site I was told the difference was £110. this I thought was too much so I raised this with the guy who took the payment (caretaker). He told me that I was right, apologised and said that we would be reimbursed before we left. We had a great time although the weather wasn't good we still enjoyed the hot tub in the rain!! After our two days we went into the reception area to collect our overpayment. The receptionist at this time was the owner who told us we wouldn't receive any money back as we upgraded therefore the Groupon deal was cancelled. Groupon told us that we should not have paid any extra as the stay would be covered under the deal but as we had paid our dispute was between us and the owner. The owner told us several different reasons why we would not get any money back seeming at times to say the first thing that came into his head. At one point he even said we didn't follow the rules regarding the use of the hot tub!!! Very petty!!! On the whole it spoilt a great experience as this is where I popped the question to my fiancé. She said yes by the way!! Great campsite, not so great owners!! Don't get ripped off!! Iv recently had an email asking us to attend a "free event" there soon with food and soft drinks. Wonder if I could consume £110 worth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We love coming here, so peaceful and relaxing far enough from everything to be isolated but close enough to town to nip and pick up whatever you need, tried the new fish and chip shop in town last night called Fryer....don't think its as nice as oceans...every thing looked like it needed a couple more minutes cooking. Anyway lovely toasty warm wigwam despite the howling wind outside
