Its definitely not at a standard of a 4 or 5 star hotel. The staff is not trained to standards, which are expected from a 4 or 5 star establishment. The hotel needs to be updated. It feels like a hilton.
Guest services are superb. Beautiful surroundings. Great night club. Superb location.
Relative to Geneva, or Switzerland in general, this is the best. Pricing is an issue, but arguably this is an issue with Switzerland in general. Rooms, again relatively, are good and spacious. Quality of the food or the restaurants is great. The lake view is as you would expect, great. If you are mentally prepared to pay for the place, and compare it only to other hotels in town, then this is a good place to be in.
Stayed here three times now, like the rooms, though they are small compared to other hotels I've stayed in (but I guess that's the location and space being at a premium). The price of a coffee a the bar is rather eye-popping.
July 18, 2008. This was the best hotel (and city) we stayed in while in Europe for over 2 weeks including Paris and Strasburg. YES, its very expensive but worth it. The lake view was great, overlooking the pool and outdoor restaurant and Mount Blanc and the Matterhorn in the distance. The room was excellant, staff 5 star and very responsive (TV issues). Local small restaurants will attempt to rip you off so be aware. THe Hotel restaurants were excellant no need to go elseware. Numerous stars and very wealthy people in Geneva.
