Grandview Motel & Dining Room

The atmosphere and customer service was good, however, the experience was shadowed by ok tasting entree that was over priced. We ordered two braised lamb shank (comes with one side) - which tasted OK....and cost per entree 30$ + tax! We expected something more mouth watering for 30$ or the entree should be around 18$.
Appetizers were quite good (soup, scallops). Entrees were at best average (fish decent, ribs/chicken horrible both tasted like boiled meat, sides were all quite good). Entrees were double the price they should be charging. Waitress was excellent. View beautiful. If I were to return I would just order a bunch of appetizers, skip the entrees.
I booked 2 rooms, one for myself and one for my friends. When we checked in my friends room had air conditioning and mine didn't. The confirmation made NO mention of this. The web site states that the rooms are air conditioned. I spoke to the manager aobut this and the false advertising and she said "I only work here". There was no offer to adjust the price or move me to another room! She offered to give me my money back but that was of no use. I wanted to stay in the same hotel as my friends plus all the better hotels in Tobermory were sold out.
The owner/ operator was friendly and helpful, the rooms were nice, the food was quite delicious, and the location was great. Soundproofing could be better in the rooms, though, and the food was overpriced.
My husband and I went to the Grandview restaurant b/c it was recommended, for food and the sunset view. The view is incredible and not to be missed....grab a drink from the bar and sit on the deck, but whatever you do, skip the food and forget about service. My water glass had dirt on it so I asked for a new glass. My server wiped some of the dirt off and gave it back to me. I don't think a clean glass of water is too much to ask for.
