Symposium Cafe Restaurant & Lounge - Oakville

Perfect place for a late night dessert. It has a cozy atmosphere, a decent selection and great service. I would recommend the East meets West crepe. Absolutely delicious! It's a full service restaurant, so it also had entrees and appetizers, in case you're hungry. Definitely recommend!!!
Prices have gone up....not necessarily matched by an increase in food quality. Specials are worth the cost but not going to be a regular spot if this trend continues.
I went for brunch with friends on Sunday. The staff were friendly and seated us right away. My cappucino was great, and friends said the coffee was ok. I ordered the Eggs Benjamin, which was really disappointing. There are three eggs not the usual two, but it didn't taste like anything. The hollandaise had no flavor, the english muffin was cold and not toasted and overall it was just ok. A friend had the Brie, Mushroom and Spinach omellete which looked amazing, and she said it tasted great. I'd definitely try that next time. They offer fresh fruit instead of the potatoes for an extra $1.50. Keep the potatoes. While the fruit cup was fresh (not fruit salad from a bucket with hard melon bits), it seemed a bit ridiculous to charge extra for what was about two spooonfuls of fruit. They were offering 2 for 1 cake slices when we were there, which I think would have actually been the better ( though not healthy) choice for brunch. The cakes looked delicious and I think they probably excel at the coffee/dessert crowd type food.
The food here is hit and miss. I've tried many dishes here and it took a while to get a feel for tgis place because some days the exact same dish will be spectacular and some days bad enough to send back to the kitchen (way overcooked and dry). The service I find has always been consistently "inexperienced" and slow. The workers seem lost and often seem like they don't know what they're doing. Tonight I went with my boyfriend for a celebration dinner and was completely deterred by their slow service. Once seated we waited 15 minutes until we thought we waited too long for our server to come introduce themselves. We got up to leave from our booth and nobody even noticed us leaving. With 8 workers walking around and only 1 other table with customers inside the restaurant, that was insulting. We decided to wait at the entrance to at least give them feed back and, of course we had to stand around for a couple of minutes till they noticed us and asked "How many do you have for tonight?" Ultimately, we are really not impressed, since this is not the first time we were left to wait so long. We do not wish to waste any more time there ever again.
