The Barking Frog is a great place for friends to come and hang out and have a good time chilling out. There is an amazing upstairs patio, complete with foozeball tables with great waitstaff to make your night smooth. There is also a night club half of the establishment where people can get together and spend their night if that is more their scene. I will definitely want to come back here sometime and check out more of what this place can do for someone's night.
I have been here 3 times - each time I was here, I reserved a VIP booth/table. The VIP booth on the top floor has a coat rack - 7 individuals from my group got their jackets stolen from there. So be aware if you are reserving this booth. Music is usually prettygood. One of the nights, we had about 30 people there, so we basically had the entire top floor to us as it was a slow night. The music that was being played on that floor was not necessarily what our group was enjoying ... so we asked them to change the much. We did this considering the fact that out of 35 people on that floor, 30 were us - but they refused to do so. Therefore, I am not sure how client-service oriented this club is. On the other nights, they allowed way too many people in. It is impossible to move around. Thankfully, we had our VIP area so we could move in there but going to the washroom was a nightmare. Speaking of washrooms, when you go into the basement, both the stairs and the hallway smell awful! They smell exactly like a washroom that has not been cleaned for months! Since this is a college town, you are looking at a very young crowd (mainly 19 - 23ish). When I called to reserve the VIP table, I was told that since we are getting VIP services, our group could come in for free. However, when we got there, the cover was $5. This was obviously not an issue since I spent $2600, $2000, and $1600 respectively at this place, but it is more of a principal issue for me. I was basically lied to. VIP servers were not that great. They were fairly slow and not that friendly. I think that it is fair to expect at least a smile from them when you are a VIP guest. One of the servers; who I gave a tip of $360 as soon as she took our first order; came to me at the end of the night with a final bill. As I was signing this, I pulled out my cards from my pocket. In between my cards was a $20 bill. As I placed my cards on the table to review my bill, she reached over, took the $20 and asked me "do you need this $20, or can I can take them." Once again, considering the fact that this was pocket change in comparison to what I spent that night, and considering that she was already tipped (and about to be tipped on the final bill) - I found thing extremely rude! Nevertheless, I let her have the $20. It is obvious that this club is happy to bring in bunch of young kids who get wasted and do not care about client services. However, for a bit more serious crowd that is there to have fun - this is not the greatest place.
