MJ Byrne's Irish Pub Inc
Reviews
The restaurant had great photos in their menu outside, don't be fooled though it was an utter disappointment. The Fish and Chips was more like a hockey puck, hard as a rock and circular?? Our server unfortunately was not around to remedy the situation so we sat around and waited for her chocking down the half-edible fries. We did get the fish taken off our bill, but no apology from the server or the manager. All-in-all over-priced, bad service, bad food won't come back - I'd rather chew gum.
2014/1015 Season: Wish I read the reviews before ordering, or even attending, yet I probably would have tried ‘em out anyways given that the negative reviews were mostly 2-3 years old. Places change right? Not MJ Byrnes! Service was fine and friendly, but the food….horrible! We ordered the $12 MJ Burger and wedges, and seeing that it’s called “MJ’s burger” alludes to the fact that it’s a homemade burger. It is not. It’s a frozen President’s Choice prime-rib hamburger patty (trust me, I BBQ’d them all summer long, so I know), on a generic grocery store bun. The wedges did not look like what was on the photo; it was partially blackened block-cut fries that were reheated in an oven, so very dried out. In fact, I never use ketchup on fries, but this time I had to smother them in it Heinz just to lubricate them enough so they didn’t lodge in my throat. The $13 Beef & Mushroom pie became $18 when the greens were substituted for sweet potato fries (the frozen Costco variety). The pie was advertised as being in “tender puff pastry.” Really? It was cooked form frozen, and anyone who’s had a frozen pot pie knows what that’s all about. And the $8 kid’s meal became $12 when fries were substituted for mashed potatoes. The chicken finger dinner consisted of two pieces of chicken; each piece literally not much larger than a McNugget. Oh, and it should go without saying by now that the chicken fingers were fried from frozen. In retrospect, the pint was the only thing that was fine, but really? How could one screw up a pint?
Big mistake picking this place. who would of thought an Irish pub can screw up something simple as chicken fingers or fish and chips?!?!?! the chicken fingers were chewy and felt like they were left over from the night before and were heated up for us. the fish was so bad we couldn't even eat it. it was also chewy!!! how could you get that wrong??!?!! it is a standard pub food. service wasn't that great. our waitress was so busy she only came by once. we had to wait for a good ten minutes in order to five the fish back. over all terrible place to eat. they don't even deserve a single star but Google doesn't give option to put zero.
I The atmosphere is good and the service was alright. The food however was absolutely horrible. I got the chef's creation and my girlfriend good the chicken pot pie. Agreeable it arrived my sandwich and the pot pie were ice cold. We asked the waitress if we could get the plates heated up. When they came back out the pot pie was warm but my sandwich was all ice cold. It was by far the worst meal I've ever had, and it actually pained me to pay $15 for a sandwich that i couldn't force myself to finish
With three people at the bar on a dead Thursday night the barkeep seemed more interested in doing anything but dealing with his customers. I knew I had made a mistake the second he took my order, and frankly should have just called it off before this awful dining experience continued. All burgers are well done...because they're all cooked ahead of time, and the fries we're flacid and uninspired, just like the bartender. You'd think in a resort during the off season that people would be more attentive, not so at this joint. Do yourself a favor and avoid this pit at all costs.
