Came across this restaurant last year while traveling in Nova Scotia, and it was a highlight of the trip. As a city-slicker from Ontario, I'm fairly picky about my Asian cuisine, and with respect to the East Coast provinces, good Chinese restaurants are few and far between. Rose Garden doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is clean and comfortable, and the food is superb. The portions were generous and there were plenty of vegetarian options as I recall (or if not, the chef was happy to modify to suit our needs). Definitely the best food I ate while traveling east of Quebec City - worth a detour.
The is the Best Chinese Restaurant in Nova Scotia, my wife and my son got a very high standard on food. They both think this is the best during our trip in New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia. We are Chinese from Markham Ontario, and this place still can got a high mark from us. I strongly recommend this place.
Take it from a Chinese tourist, Rose Garden has fabulous food. It is the typical family restaurant. The waitress is the daughter and the cooks are her parents. However, do not be fooled, for the food there is absolutely delicious, better than any Chinatown restaurant. It has a mix of Beijing food and Szuchuan food (and also some Canadian food, e.g. sandwiches). It has large servings and the prices are very cheap. I would recommend the Singapore Noodles and the Hunan Chicken. The only down point is that the restaurant, from the outside, looks a little run-down. But, the inside is well-decorated and clean. There is also a large party room. Make sure to stop by before driving the Cabot Trail.
really poor care for the customers and the food is disgusting
