Great restaurant, with a solid menu and top-notch service. The food has enough of a unique twist to keep even common items interesting. A lot of tables are private enough to talk business if needed as well.

I was travelling in the Chilliwack area and asked the taxi driver to take me somewhere with good food that wouldn't mean I'd have to take out a second mortgage to pay for supper. He took me to this Earl's on Luckakuck way. When I walked up to the door 7:30 pm, Friday night, I was hungry and tired from my journey and my limp was much more painful and I looked rather scruffy. (I was NOT in the greatest of moods) But a server (who was tending to the outdoor tables) rushed to the door to open it for me. Gave me a big smile and "glad you're here". She personally handed me off to the hostess inside who found me a lovely table right away. Through my whole experience everyone kept asking if I was "okay, alright" and "what else can I get for you". But their sweetness was nothing compared to the F-O-O-D. I can honestly say that it is the best food I've tasted in a restaurant in 10 years. I ordered some Garlic toast but what they brought me makes ALL other garlic toast in the world seem like cardboard. THIS garlic toast was a large wedge of the freshest bread (with some kind of wheat or oats in the flour) and toasted lightly with garlic THOUGHOUT the wedge. I mean, how did they do that? It wasn't a slice. How do you get butter and garlic into the center of a wedge? While I was contemplating my garlic bread, my food continued to come. I fell behind because I was savouring everything. Thank goodness I was alone, that way there was more room on the table for all my plates. Because I had several plates still untouched, MY waitress and OTHER waitresses kept asking me "can I do anything for you?, Is there something wrong with your food?" I couldn't stop chewing long enough to acknowledge that everything was great. Every time I would be asked "is your food okay?" I would just keep chewing and nodding and doing a thumbs up. Finally after eating some of everything plus my chocolate milk I ordered a virgin Chi Chi (which they invented a new type specially for me because their blender/machine/thingey was on the blink). So what should have been a simple alcohol-less cocktail became an extravaganza with cherries and fruit and froth and pineapple. A drink-sculpture worthy of being compared to Michelangelo's David. I can't really remember everything I ate. I lost the ability to think after I started cramming food into my mouth. All my thought processes went to my tongue. Now, you're reading this and thinking, "I think she's exaggerating or she owns part of the company or is a mental case" All I can tell you is, I am desperately trying to figure out how to get the Earl's in Chilliwack to deliver to my home here in Edmonton. I left that restaurant with a couple of doggie bags (which I ate throughout the night) and TWO people holding the door open for me. I actually made a point of asking my server to tell the chef's (or the "gods of food & taste") they have in their kitchen that I enjoyed my best restaurant meal in 10 years. You know what? I've been too reserved. It's my best meal EVER in 10 years. I want to say longer than 10 years but I can't remember that far back and I don't want to insult some relative or friend that cooked me a great meal. I did find the décor kind of rough and barn yard-ish. It wasn't bad, it just didn't seem worthy of the caliber of food they were serving. It was also loud and there was a bunch of TV's with some sporting event on them, but I didn't really notice or care because I didn't look up from my plate. But the service and food was beyond my expectation and experience. How many things in life can you say that about? So if you find yourself in Chilliwack you MUST eat here and don't forget to order the "garlic toast". And when you take that first bite from that fresh wedge, let my "I told you so." run through your mind. Then forget about everything (including me) and just ENJOY.
