Bridge Inn Hotel Mernda
Reviews
No smoke free outdoor eating area for families on a sunny Sunday arvo. The renovations are well done but one of the most enjoyable aspects of our oz climate is the opportunity to eat outside without having smoke blown all over you. Not at this pub anyway.
Dinner there the other night. Very fast and friendly service from the waiting staff. Good size meals with no complaints from any of us (five). Comfortable modern setting. Recommended 👍
Great renovations. Forget what you see outside from the carpark end, they have tied old and new together very well inside, and the interior is spacious whilst the previously 'big room' of the bistro has been broken up into far more intimate spaces. Nice decor, comfortable chairs, staff are friendly and fast. Had a Garlic Ciabatta, Parma and a Twice-Cooked Pork Belly... all fantastic. Pork was standout and will go back for it again.
Tried the newly renovated hotel on a Sunday night, we ate in the bistro, which has table service. We ordered our drinks first then our mains. The food arrived first, very quickly i might add, at this point we asked where our drinks were, they were then also quickly bought out and we were told we waited so long because people were being served at the bar and they were busy (not sure why there is table service if you get served quicker going to the bar yourself) but I guess that's justification for the meals being a couple of dollars more. When we asked where the drinks were we had to repeat the order again, (I would have thought they would have that info at the bar or on computer?) The meals were pretty good, we had the fish and chips and a Parma. The chips were really nice and the size of the meals was good. The staff are really keen to up sell you on breads etc. Our table was seated at the end of the old section in a walk way, which was terrible because our chairs kept getting knocked by people passing by including staff. We were offered more drinks but our table was never cleared. The staff are young and more worried about their computers they take orders on then giving personal customer service. They also all have ear pieces which they are consumed by. When we paid I told the girl about our table location and she was quite rude and said "Oh well we can tell the staff to go around for the next people". People around us had a different experience as they were served there drinks etc quicker than us so I am sure we are an isolated case however I we didn't enjoy our experience. The renovations are really nice and the furniture comfortable, there are plenty of spots to sit and relax, if you can dodge the screaming kids. The customer service really needs to improve and it would be a great place to eat. I might be being a bit picky however this is there opening week, isn't this the time to make a really good impression?? The staff all need to smile.:) Customers are paying there wage after all.
We found the service really good, the staff friendly, and the food was really nice. We enjoyed the table service. John
