Tudor Inn
Reviews

I am at a loss as to why the ALH group cannot get their collective shit together and come up with DECENT PUB FOOD?! Between the Tudor, The Sandy and The Boundary Hotel, the food is just plain awful! We are locals, have attended all three venues regularly over the past 5 years and we are still unable to say we have enjoyed a meal at any of these pubs. We frequent them as we enjoy a regular pub night out with friends and kids, and they each have a play room, which is a major draw card when coming out with children. We came to the newly re-vamped Tudor a couple of weeks ago, excited that we have a new local (that we could even walk to) and we were hoping that this would be a refreshing change to the experiences we've had at other ALH venues. I ordered a lamb salad. A couple of pieces of very bland, grey, overcooked lamb sitting on a VERY small bowl of dry spinach leaves: $25. It was revolting and I was actually shocked at how bad it was. Our 3 friends ordered a rump steak each. One came out 20 mins after my salad. The other 2 never came, after an hour. The staff had the cheek to tell them "the rump steak takes an hour to cook" - utterly ridiculous - (Even though we already had ONE delivered to our table). Needless to say, we went home and our friends ordered a pizza. So disappointing! How hard is it to come up with 15 decent meals on a menu and get them to a point of actually being edible, maybe even ENJOYABLE?! It's PUB FOOD!!! And it's not like the meals are cheap. Who taste tests these meals and decides they are appropriate for serving? Is there any kind of quality control? I honestly can't imagine any chef being proud of at least 8 of the meals I have eaten at these venues in the past 6 months. Sadly, that's it for us, we are done with ALH pubs and will stick with Dom's Bistro in Highett - no playground but reasonably priced, delicious food and great service. Ultimately, the food is the business in a new re vamped dining room, and the food is quite simply, completely and utterly shit.

Since the rebuild fantastic. I'll be back for 3 time in last couple of months. Plus they know how to cook a blue steak

The first time we went there was ok. Tonight the worst food and service possible. We were being after the people in front Oscar US paid we were told the kitchen was closed...we had been waiting fir the previous 10 min. After they agreed to serve us we ordered the soup of the day and a parma. The soup was terrible we got a refund on it, pumpkin soup with no flavor other than tomato paste. The checked was like rubber the series soggy. Never going back there.

This is our local pub. We returned with the kids after 5 years, to 'try again' after poor experiences when we first moved to the area. Kids ate their average kids meals. We returned our meals and went to Hungry Jack's on the way home. Being 'steak night', we ordered two steaks medium rare. They were served evenly cooked medium, which we would have shrugged at had they not also been barely warm and seemingly placed half frozen in the griller press and stewed rather than grilled nicely. The handful of chips were overcooked and soggy, and the salad was probably made in the morning. One staff member was lovely, the other had a few things to learn. Still obliging in a refund, which as noted in another review - must happen a lot.

Simple pub grub, pleasant staff, reasonable prices.
