The Fig Tree is a very modern, stylish licensed-Deli-Restaurant, with the front facing Memorial Drive, and the back to the Eumundi markets. In the entrance there are terracotta floors, a corrugated-iron bar front, and chrome bar stools complimented by lots of natural wood, in counter tops and trims. Delicious cakes feature in one glass cabinet, while another displays quiches, salads, and deli items. The restaurant-proper is a large wrap around, covered in verandah area, with wooden floors and fabulous wooden ceilings. Along one side is a feature tropical garden, the opposite wall is lined with large indigenous paintings, and the table and chairs are in shades of green, creating a relaxed, easy ambience. At the rear is another bar with corrigatted fronts, this one a coffee bar. As the owner is a qualified London chef, this is evident in the superb presentation of the food. We chose from their delicious range of cakes, Pear and Macadamia, served with cream and rasberry couli, a Bread and Butter pudding cake, served with cream and caramel sauce, delightfully moist and sticky, and a savoury salmon and feta cake, absolutely delicious. For the two very well made lattes, the coffee was sourced from an award winning local blender, (Pioneer) This classy cafe/restaurant/deli would not be out of place in any modern city.
