The Commercial Hotel is very quick to take your money for services but not so prompt or efficient to provide the paid service -& then refuses to refund when dissatisfaction is expressed. Having been informed 30 min wait for a meal - 50 mins later, after observing people ordering after our order & being served their meals - Brendan, the general manger, decided to withhold a refund as didn't like the feedback from disgruntled, hungry & slighlty irked customers by now - didn't stop them serving drinks at all while waiting for a meal.... I also experciened Brendon hanging up on me 3 times on the phone whilst trying to discuss & organsie for the credit card payment to be refunded The Commercial Hotel & the Club Hotel are owned by the same person - Justin - after countless phone calls I am still waiting for a response. If you don't need to go to Chinchilla I'd avoid the area as a whole if this is an indication of the quality of the hospitality & customer service one can expect. Perhaps been riding too long on the back of the mining boom...?
We stayed here for $70 night for a hotel twin room, no ensuite. The staff appeared friendly and helpful and the room was clean and reasonably modern with an LCD television. A central common room on the floor featured several comfortable couches, a large-screen LCD/plasma, fridge, hot water and toaster. The toilets/showers however were not on par with the rest, appearing quite dated and less inviting. Several globes were missing making some toilet cubicles unusable. The room's walls and door also didn't block noise too well and a neighbouring room's TV was blaring at 11pm until we asked a staff member to do something about it. The common room TV was also turned on reasonably loud at 6am in the morning. I hope that noise isn't a regular part of this hotel. I also didn't notice any breakfast material provided although we did checkout at 7am. Might possibly stay here again, as long as the noise issues could be somehow minimised.
