fantastic place for a Friday / Saturday night with friends. Good selection of beers and wine
Food and vibe was pretty good, although the $1 surcharge for using my eftpos (NOT credit) card to pay for our meals left a bitter taste... When I questioned the bar staff they couldn't tell me why, so I assumed it was some sort of cash grab by the owner. I then questioned it on their Facebook account only to have their manager respond rudely with "don't use your card then!", before blocking me. I'd like to know who in this day and age goes out for a meal with enough cash to cover several meals and drinks? Clearly, this $1 surcharge is a nice little kicker for the establishment at the end of every week and also violates EFTPOS's terms of service. One wonders how many other dodgy things go on at Montes?
