The Main Street Pub

Had to come to Gainesville to do some business and googled for local restaurants. I'm so glad I did! We had an excellent chicken fried steak dinner with crispy fresh salad and baked potato and drink all for 8.49! The ranch dressing was excellent ant the chicken fried steak was pan fried just like my mom used to make. I highly recommend this place!
I eat at the pub once a week or so for lunch. They have a great lunch special. Salad, crackers, drink, main dish and 2 sides for around $7.00. Service is always great. Servers are nice and so is the manager. I am mainly there during the day but I stopped in there one evening with some co-workers and had a few beers. The evening staff was great also. Beer on tap was real cold. I don't think I had an empty glass the whole time I was there. The waitress had a new beer on the table before I emptied the one I was on. Oh and the atmosphere is nice too. They keep it very clean and there are tons of pictures on the walls from Gainesville back in the dark ages and there are a few shoulder mounts of big long horns.
I was in the area for 2 months for a film shoot. The owner and her staff were very nice and very welcoming. I was in MSP&E at least 2-3 times a week for lunch since I couldn't deal with the stuff that was on the set. I totally fell in love with the homemade tomato soup and chicken salad combo. Heavenly! The other days I would have the wraps. Now that I'm back in TX and once the weather gets nice, I would like to plan a nice ride up there with the Mr. so we can both enjoy great food for a very reasonable price.
We stopped off at this place while passing through Gainesville after a day at the lake. The food was amazingly good and the service was fast and efficient. I had the southwest grilled chicken and it was out of this world. My daughter had a club sandwich that was GIANT and delicious. We will most definitely eat here again!
Went in here during a road trip down to fort worth texas. Ordered the lunch special for 875 which was the country fried steak mashed potatoes and soup. It is not the typical fast food deep fried country fried steak. It is pan fried and just like grandma's. It was so good I ordered two lunch specials and ate them both. 1 place you need to stop trying. It is in the downtown area.
