Hideout 125 Restaurant & Lounge featuring Steak, Seafood and Appetizers

Had reservations and we were seated promptly. The decor and lighting gives a warm ambiance. However it can get loud very quickly with the low ceilings. First off I like cold water. I understand not putting ice in the water, but a least chill the bottle and water before serving. The cocktails we ordered we honestly overpriced for what they were. The second thing that annoyed me was not that she told us the price of the special that evening but how she told us....i felt that she was nosing down that we couldn't afford the meal and she suggested it wax enough to feed us both. (Was just and my boyfriend). It was later in the evening however we hadn't eaten since breakfast and was expecting to order large meals.....after that meal was great. They definitely hook up with the fried calamari appetizer. Crunchy breading, not greasy, and tender calamari spears. He ordered the scallops and I the filet and lobster (the special). The special, even a skinny girl could have eaten the whole meal. Enough to share for two???? I think not. The filet was outstanding. Perfectly cooked. The lobster was prepared nicely. The asparagus was slightly over cooked and woody. The mashed potatoes were nothing to write home about. My boyfriends scallops could have cooked another minute, they were almost gelatinous. They do have a kickass Caesar salad....could hook you up on that more. I had the onion soup.....again nothing to write home about....gave half of my meal to my boyfriend because he was starving. The dessert martinis we order we really strong.....overall not too bad. Just don't sit in the corner in the family room side unless you like being cold the entire time you are there. Great place for dates and anniversaries.... Just don't go looking like you are poor. I guess next time i should not wear my expensive night out jeans and wear a skirt
We sat at the bar. The fillet I ordered was no question the worst I've ever had. It was really fatty and touch to chew. I had a couple bites and didn't finish it, the bartender never asked how my steak was or asked how everything was. I recommend if eating Northwest to go to Black Caynon or Trolly Bar.
So let me preface this with, I do not send back food as restaurants. I do not complain about the food, I feel we live in a very privileged society as it is, and complaining about an expensive meal is just pretentious, but in case of a good or bad meal I always give feedback in hopes that it will help both the patrons and the place of business. I arrived without reservations, and was sat quickly. The decor is nice, and the place overall is very clean. We immediately noticed that the place was over staffed, and had a young man who worked there basically stare at my girlfriend and gave her the creeps the entire time. We ordered a bottle of wine, salads (kale & wedge), shrimp cocktail, filet, lamb, and the chefs recommend dessert a cinnamon bacon bun. The salads were excellent, probably the best part of the meal, the kale salad in particular was outstanding. We never received our shrimp cocktail due to waitress error ( no big deal it happens ). The filet was dry and undercooked, which I don't even know how you would accomplish that, the lamb was cooked properly, but not warm, and had no flavor at all. The chimichurri that came with it was tasteless, and pointless, as was the puree under my lamb. Now that being said we were not upset as it was a new place, and going 1 time does not always reflect how good a restaurant is, what pushed me from a 3 star two a 2 star was the female manager who did this: When our dessert came out the bacon that was on top was over cooked, but being as we had never seen the dish before we had no idea what it was suppose to look like. The manager came over and asked us "are you sure you are ok with that?" which was kind of insulting since we have no idea what it even tasted like at that point, and we replied "is there something wrong with it?" and she replied "well if you are ok with it", and then walked away. I cannot begin to express how awkward and rude that last bit was, but I will leave the management with this piece of advice. 1) Do not ask a customer how they are doing 5 - 6 times during their dinner, its annoying, and made us uncomfortable. This is not a breakfast restaurant, people go for peace and quiet and a nice meal. 2) If you do not think something looks right, ask politely if you can take the dish, go show it to your chef, and bring me a new one no questions asked. 3) The waitress's and hosts are very friendly, the managers could learn something from them.
