Very cool independent coffee shop with a relaxed atmosphere. Not the MOST creative decor ever, but they do have art on the wall, and different styles of chairs, tables and mugs. It's cool enough for me. My only disappointment is the selection for food. The entrees were a little too "artsy" for my plain-turkey-sandwich-kinda-guy fiance and you wouldn't want to get a pricey sandwich/wrap/soup/etc. if you're not going to enjoy it. I liked it, though. Just throwing that out there. Oh yeah and as far as service, it ranges from ok to good. I've never had bad, personally.
I was delighted to find this place (recommended to me by a friend) while I was back home visiting. It's one of the biggest coffee houses I've been in: It has a big open front room with lots of windows and natural light, an outside seating veranda, and a smaller hallway-type alcove with a skylight in the "Additional Seating" section behind the register. As for atmosphere, they have wireless internet, a good color palette, warm people (staff and customers), and weekly live music (that's Knotwork in the background). I recommend checking it out.
Good food, good drinks, good vibes
I regularly visit the FF for myself and my clients and appreciate its value and its neighborhood location. The staff have always been friendly. I've read the criticisms above, especially about bad customer service, and sense that there is more context that the critic is not revealing. In other words, I'm a bit suspicious. FF is a decent place to retreat, get a sandwich and coffee, and in a quaint neighborhood setting. My understanding is that it is run by pretty ordinary folks--entrepreneurs without a long history in the restaurant business. They're doing it well enough to turn a profit and be sustainable, and FW needs more of those kinds of stories. Can they improve the food, decor and service? Yes, but I can improve too; thankfully, my clients understand that and graciously keep doing business with me.
I had lunch here today. I and my party were made to relinquish our table so that a larger party could be seated, then we were treated as an afterthought with regard to service, while the larger party received much better service; I believe from pictures on their website, that the waitress is actually one of the owners! Rude and unpleasant experience!
