Kingston Mines

Having come here a number of times, I originally thought it had a "touristy" feel, and due to the size (two separate large rooms with two separate stages), I thought it felt a bit impersonal and generic. However, after my last visit, I was blown away. I went to see my favorite act, Vance Kelly, and the place was packed. The energy was incredible, and even though I was by myself, it was thoroughly enjoyable. The sound quality/compression is great; I could hear every instrument, and it was a good volume- loud enough to get everyone dancing, but it didn't leave my ears ringing. The service is prompt, with ample bar counter space, and I was able to buy beers with minimal wait times, as they have servers that do a great job. Highly recommended if you want to go out for a night of fun, dancing, and amazing live music!
Can't really beat Kingston Mines. Yes it can get packed with Saturday night sloppiness, but the wide range of age and dancing skill levels makes it so special. The music is always so much fun and the best option after 3am.
Great music, great people. Very diverse in composition, the crowd moved me as much as the music did. Great experience. Plus it's free for students!
Hands down my favorite bar in Chicago. Great music, great people. What more could you ask for in a bar? This year we decided to do NYE at Kingston Mines and were shown a great time. No matter the night of the week someone is always suggesting we hit up Kingston Mines. Will continue to come to here for years to come.
Came on a night the great Carl Weathersby was playing.. Dope set! And since I am a current college student.. It was free! This place rocks! Kool sound. Great vibes.. This is Chicago Blues!
