The Park Cafe
Reviews
I don't usually like leaving bad reviews, but since this place is new, it really should be said... it is entirely disappointing. It looked promising, and clearly a lot of money has gone into decor, but there seems to be no effort elsewhere. -Not a single worker there smiled. Not once. There were three girls behind the counter, a man making coffee, someone else pottering around... all of them looked like they were quietly dying inside (not exaggerating) -The food sucked. Next to no vegetarian options (from what I can tell nothing is made onsite). I wound up having a 'toasted' cheese and tomato roll. When it came out it was barely toasted, slathered with margarine, tasted like it had been in the fridge for a week, and was cold on the inside. Again, I do not exaggerate; the tomato was *icy* cold to the touch. I couldn't finish it. -And sadly, the coffee was mediocre at best. My mother's latte came out warm and milky (despite being skim!) and mine came out with burned milk leaving a sour taste. We were hoping for a cool new cafe that might be able to compete with Roses (since they are always SOOO busy there to the point where you're treated as an inconvenience, not a customer). Sadly, this place under delivers.
Great new local cafe, but familiar, friendly staff, great service, great coffee, easy parking and fair prices. Well worth a drop in on the way through town.
